Turmeric Latte

This lovely yellow drink is something I've only recently learnt to make. With a caffeine intolerance I have tried many substitutes to hot chocolate and coffee and this has got to be one of my favourites (alongside a good chai and matcha latte). It's super easy to make and is a beautiful bright yellow without any unnatural colouring. It might take a view goes to get the balance right for your tastebuds as some prefer it more sweet and others prefer it more spic but give it a few goes before you come to a final verdict - the first time I tried it, it was really ordinary but I made a few alterations to the recipe and now I love it. This recipe serves two so you can make one for a friend (or...have two, like me!).

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 tsp ground turmeric

  • 1/4 tsp ground ginger

  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon

  • 1/2 vanilla extract

  • 1 1/4 tsp maple syrup/honey

  • 350mL milk (any kind)

Method:

  1. Mix the ground turmeric, ginger and cinnamon together in a small bowl

  2. In a separate container, add the vanilla extract and maple syrup/honey to the milk

  3. Froth the milk mixture using a milk frother until bubbly and warm (you may want to do this one half at a time)

  4. Pour half the spice mix into each cup

  5. Add half the milk mix into each cup and stir until the spices are dissolved

  6. Enjoy!
