Top Paddock Cafe

A little while ago I went to a cafe in Richmond called Top Paddock with some friends. The cafe had the most gorgeous up-cycled decor and the food was so delicious. I ordered granola but there was also a heap of yummy salads, eggs and other sweet dishes to chose from which were all presented beautifully.

One thing that I particularly loved about this cafe was its commitment to being zero waste. Every day there is a menu item which uses the excess food in the kitchen (that would otherwise be thrown away) and they try to use every part of the produce in the recipes. They also have a vertical aquaponic urban farm which grows micro greens for garnish and houses a fish tank below. There are no plastic straws and even their honey is from their own farm.

If you're in Melbourne I highly recommend popping into this cafe for a meal and supporting their sustainable business model. It is only a short walk from the Richmond station and even when it's busy - the food is well worth the wait.
