DIY Phone Cases

Updated: Aug 18, 2018

These DIY phone cases are super easy to make and can be made to look however you like. All you need is a clear phone case, some paper or printed designs, a pair of scissors, pencil and a Stanley knife.

The first thing you need to do is select your designs and cut them to the size of your phone. You could use craft paper, printed designs from online (like me), your own illustrations, wrapping paper, sheet music or even fabric. Thick cardboard doesn't tend to work well because it often makes the case too small for the phone and doesn't slot well into the case. The great thing about these DIY phone cases is that you can completely customise them and have so many different designs without having to buy new plastic cases in packaging. It's a good idea to have an extra cut-out that you can use as a template.

The second step is to push your template piece into the phone case and with a pencil mark where the corners curve and where the lens hole it. Then use scissors to round the edges and a Stanley knife to cut out the lens whole. This stage is probably the trickiest as it is very fiddly so don't worry if it takes a few goes to get right.

Finally use your template to cut-out the designs you chose. the result should look similar to the image above. These paper inserts can then be simply slotted into the clear phone case and changed whenever you like.
